The incubation period for green turtle eggs is around 60 days. Instagram user Andrew Lomakin witnessed a mother turtle arrive to nest, so he patiently waited for the hatchlings to emerge. Eventually, he captured the magical moment as baby turtles made their way across the beach — a truly heartwarming and rare sight.
The survival rate of green turtles is extremely low. According to scientific research, only 1 out of 2,000 hatchlings survive to adulthood. Many face dangers like predators and environmental challenges before they even reach the water.
In some protected areas, human interference is strictly prohibited to allow turtles to nest and breed safely. These conservation zones help ensure more hatchlings have a chance to survive.
