Guinea Pigs are one of the cutest pet animals they are so cute and apartment-friendly so anyone can have this cute pet. Guinea pigs are easy to feed so it is easy to pet a guinea pig. It is also known as the cavy or domestic cavy, which is a species of rodent belonging to the genus Cavia in the family Caviidae. guinea pigs are not native to Guinea, nor are they closely related biologically to pigs. This animal is first time introduced as a pet animal to America and Europe.

The goat is a domestic animal and it has been domesticated thousands of years ago. Many people tame it for milk, meat, and fur but this doesn’t mean everyone’s thinking is the same. Some people tame it because they like to keep it as a family member. To impress god people sacrifice goats in India. Goat milk is used to make cheese. They live in a herd. They graze grasses and also eat shrubs and leaves. They are white, black, and brown colored animal and also mixed colored. More than 300 breeds are living worldwide.
[9] Sheep

Sheep are animal-like goat but they are found in cold places and their body is covered with a thick layer of wool. They live in a herd and they are herbivorous. They graze ground grass. People tame them for business purposes because the owner sells wool. Also, people tame it for its meat. In some sheep have horns. Domestic and wild sheep are different. Like goats, they are white, brown, and black colored. An adult sheep’s weight is between 45 -100kg.

Camels are known as ships of dessert. They live in the desert area and their body is well adapted according to the desert. They are large animal and their other talent is they can live without drinking water for a week because they have a special structure on their body where they store water when they drink. In desert areas getting water is difficult so whenever they found water they drink it at full potential and also store it on the special structure. Their mouth and tongue are also adopted for spiny shrubs because in the desert area you will find only spiny shrubs and grasses and most trees are also spiny.

They have a special ability that they can lift weight (according to their capacity). We also know donkeys as Ass. One thing that will shock you is that donkey is a horse family animal. A male donkey or ass is called a jack, a female a jenny or jennet, a young donkey is a foal. For 5000 years ago they are working animals for humans.
[13] Chicken

Chickens have been domesticated for thousands of years. People are petting it for meat and egg purpose, mostly people do it for this purpose. Some people pet it because they just love it they don’t want any benefits from it. Today chicken has been domesticated in a large number for business purposes because they sell its egg and meat and also excretory materials are sold to farmers. Many species of chickens have been developed according to their use. Chickens are just so cute birds and they are birds but they don’t fly like other birds. They fly for a limited distance only.

Parrots are so sweet birds they have a special ability to remember human voice and Mimic that and also people like it because of its voice and its beauty. It is one of the most beautiful birds in India. It has been domesticated for many years ago. People don’t tame it for any particular purpose it is just a beautiful bird and it gives pleasure to humans. There are more than 250 species of parrots and not all parrots have the same ability of mimicry. Because of their long lifespan, they can be your best friend.
[15] Pigeon

There are many types of pigeon some lives in the forest, some in houses of human and some are just pet pigeon. There are some breeds of pigeons that are developed just for domesticating. Indian rock pigeon doesn’t need to domesticate them they just choose a human house where they will be comfortable and there they make a nest. Pet species pigeons like Fantail Pigeon and king pigeon are being domesticated by many. Most of the pigeons are human-friendly they just don’t fear humans but that doesn’t mean they allow you to catch them.
[16] Duck

Who doesn’t know about the duck? The ducks are birds that cannot flay and they can swim on water and eat fish from the water. Their feathers are waterproof. They are omnivorous birds. Ducks are also known as waterfowl. Ducks have been domesticated as pets and farm animals for more than 500 years. People domesticate duck for eggs and meat. The production of eggs depends upon the daylight, the longer daylight = higher egg production to avoid low daylight farmers use artificial light to feel duck-like its daylight. Ducks are social animals so they always stay in a group as they think they are more protected in a group.

Like parrots, some species have a special ability to mimic voice. They are dark brown colored, black hooded head and the bare yellow patch behind the eye birds and they are omnivorous. They produce various songs that consist of whistling, squeaking, and gurgling sounds. They live in the cavity of trees.

weight – 110 – 190kg
Turtles are aquatic animals and for sunbath and laying eggs they come out from water to land. Most turtles live in the ocean and the rest are in rivers and ponds. Turtles are one of the oldest living reptiles. They can be easily recognized by their hard shell on the upper body which protects them from predators and some turtles have a special ability to hide their head inside the shell to give extra protection. The shell is made of Bone and cartilaginous. Turtles’ diet depends upon their habitat some turtles are herbivorous, some are carnivorous and some are omnivorous. Jellyfish are known as turtle’s favorite food. Their lifespan is very long, in comparison to humans they live more years. Leatherback turtles are the biggest turtle species. In some places catching and selling turtles is illegal ( like in India).
[19] Tortoise

Weight – 100 – 250 kg
Tortoises are as same as turtles but tortoises aren’t aquatic animals, they are terrestrial animals. A group of tortoises is called a creep. Tortoise can’t swim on water but they can hold their breath for a long time and also they can hide their head inside the shell. Whenever they feel any threat from predators they go inside the shell and hold their breath for a long time. Their shell is hard that doesn’t mean they can’t feel damage and touch, they have a special nerve ending on the shell that whenever you touch them they will your touch. Sulcatas are known as the best pet tortoise. Tortoises reach sexual maturity with size, not age and it is difficult to say which is male and female tortoise just by looking.

Pigs have a heavy body and it seems like they can’t run faster but an adult pig can run 11 mile/hour speed. They don’t have sweat glands so to cool down their body they take a mud bath. People won’t believe but Pigs are more intelligent animals, they are more intelligent animals than dogs and cats. Pigs have very long memories and can remember things even years later. They like massage so they rub their body on the tree and also they like a mud bath and listening musing. Their sense of smell is 2000 stronger than humans and they use this ability to find food. Some humans pet this animal for the business purpose they sell it for meat.
[21] Monkey

Weight – 2 – 15kg
Science says that we are evolved from monkeys and monkeys are our ancestors. They are such brilliant animals. They have more than 250 species and every species has some special characters. Out of more than 250 monkey species 15 species of monkeys Monkeys are found in India. generally live on trees but some prefer ground like Baboons. They mostly eat leaves, fruits, seeds, and flowers but sometimes they can eat eggs and small insects. The group of monkeys is called a troop.
[22] Squirrel

Squirrels are cute animals. a species of squirrel (flying squirrel) is in endemic condition. Normal squirrels are so cute they eat fruits and seeds. They look like a mouse but you can easily recognize them because it is different than the mouse and it has big bushy tail. They make nests like birds or they live in cracks of trees.
[23] Lizard

Lizards are a common type of reptile and they are found in most places of India but normal lizards aren’t domesticated. Lizard like Iguana and monitor lizard are domesticated in India. A normal person can pet an Iguana but to pet a monitor lizard you need also ask your neighbors too because they may have some problem with it because Monitor lizards are not normal lizards.
[24] Snake

We all know snakes are dangerous animals and most people are afraid of them but in countries like the USA and Australia people like to pet a snake but it isn’t that common in India only a few people tame this animal. Snake charmer (Sapera) tame this dangerous animal because they show various kinds of snakes to people and earn some money apart from snake charmer (Sapera) some people like to have a snake. But snake pet doesn’t mean king Cobra or Viper because they are dangerous. You should know everything about how to pet a snake and precautions because it can harm you or if you do not take care perfectly then it will affect your pet snake.
[25] Shrimp

Shrimps are aquatic you can have shrimp on an aquarium it will look so amazing and bring the attention of guests to your home. Generally, people tame fish but having shrimp is also a good idea but you should take care that they should jump out of the aquarium. In India mostly people don’t tame shrimp but people do shrimp farming it gives a large profit to the farmers.

Prawn aren’t normal type pet because people do its farming or tame it in a large number in ocean or pound. Prawns aren’t being petted in aquariums they are domesticated on aquaculture. You can do prawn culture on a tank also.

Weight – 20 – 100 g
Bulbuls are beautiful birds. There are eight different types of Bulbul:- Red-vented, red-whiskered, white-cheeked, striated, white-browed, yellow-browed, yellow-throated, and black. The most common species of Bulbul is the red-vented Bulbul. They like to eat fruit buds, flower nectar, berries, peas, insects like ants, moths, caterpillars, etc. They produce so sweet sounds that is also a reason people like to have a bulbul as a pet.

Weight – 200 – 600 kg
Yak are animals like cows but they don’t found everywhere in India. Yak is found in only a few areas of India. They are found in cold places, in India they are found in the Northern area and North-East region. Yaks are typically accustomed to temperatures below 10-15°C (50-59°F), and can even survive down to -40°C (-40°F). Their body is adapted to cold so their body has long hairs. Mostly they are found in the Himalayas area of India. Temperature affects them a lot because they are adapted for low temperature and they don’t like high temperature.

Llama isn’t an Indian animal it is an exotic animal but still some people have this pet in India and also some pet animal sellers sell this animal. Read all legal and illegal things before having this pet animal in India.
[30] Forest Dove

Weight – 100 – 200 g
There are many species of Dove in India and pigeons are also Dove but we are talking about forest Dove. In some places of Chhattisgarh, people catch wild Dove and tame them. The wild dove is a lite purple and gray-colored bird. This bird eats seeds, fruit, and insects.
[31] Grey francolin (Teetar)

Lifespan – 5 -8 year
Weight – 200 – 400g
Grey francolin is commonly known as teetar in India. This bird isn’t domesticated very much but in the village area of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha people catch this from the forest and tame this bird. They eat seeds, fruits, grains, and insects. Before the invention of Chemical pesticides, they were known as farmer’s friends as they eat harmful insects from farms.
[32] Common quail (Bater)

Common quail known as Bater is a wild bird but people like tame in village area near forest because this bird isn’t available in the pet shop but today it is used in the business industry for egg production. The Bater egg production in India has developed in last few years 10 years ago only villagers like to tame this bird.
[33] Macaw

Lifespan – 40 – 50 year
Weight – 1 – 2kg
Macaw is a bird-like parrot but they are a species of parrot but they aren’t Indian birds they are exotic species but on most of the pet shops you will easily get this bird as this is the most common pet bird. They are the largest parrot. Macaw has a very long lifespan (50-80 years) so people keep it as a family member, not a pet. They eat fruits, seeds, and vegetables.

Weight – 10 – 400g
Rat is the animal found in every house but people don’t like this rate because this house rate only damages this. From many different rate species, a pet rat species is developed which looks so cute and it looks like a guinea pig. The fancy rate is the species that is domesticated by pet lovers. The name fancy rat derives from the idea of animal fancy (the promotion of domesticated animals). their sense of smell is very good, their nose has 1,207 olfactory receptors. They are social animals and pet rats like playing also the shocking fact is they laugh like a human but unfortunately we can’t hear their laugh.
[35] Elephant

Weight – 4000 – 6000 kg
Elephants are one of the largest animals. This hug animal has been domesticated thousands of years ago. In the old period, kings used this giant animal in their military, and also sometimes kings ride an elephant in battle. Today, no one tames this huge animal in the city because it needs a large and open place and because of traffic it is dangerous to have an elephant in the city but in circuses, people are tame elephants. In the village area, Mahout use to domesticate elephants and they train them and ride them.
[36] Mule

Lifespan – 40-50 year
Weight – 20 – 450 kg
Mule is the hybrid of a male donkey and a female horse. Because of interspecies matting, hybrid mules are sterile. In India, mules are used as donkeys. Mules have the same strength as horses and they consume less food than horses. A donkey can kick backside but a mule can kick sidewise too. Mule has been used in the hilly area for weight lifting and also they had been used in old kings military.
[37] Fish

Lifespan – 2 -60 year
Weight – 0.5 – 2000kg
Fish are the one the beautiful creature. From smaller than 1cm to larger than Elephant fishes are. There are a lot of varieties of fish in the ocean and counting and recognizing every fish is difficult. Humans have been domesticating fishes for thousands of years ago. You can have some fish pet in your aquarium or you can domesticate them on a pond and Well. People are doing fish farming for several years ago it gives good profit. Not all people tame them to eat some people tame them because they love them. Watching, swimming fishes are so beautiful it feels like doing meditation.
